Media Freedom Act, Furore (M5S): ‘Without free information, there is no democracy’

Speaking in the Committee on Culture and Education (CULT) in Brussels, Mario Furore took part in the debate on the European Media Freedom Act, stressing the urgent need to ensure effective protection for journalists and the independence of public service media.
“In Europe and in Italy, journalists are subjected to pressure and intimidation: cases such as the one involving Sigfrido Ranucci show just how urgent it is to truly enforce this law,” the MEP said. Furore also called for greater responsibility on the part of Member States to guarantee media pluralism and press freedom.
